gizmo (2026)

The gizmo is a DIY motion synthesizer. You can use it to create different kinds of sounds by physically moving it. It’s small, portable and you can build it yourself for very cheap. It uses the Arduino Nano with the Mozzi library and comes with:

The Arduino Nano has a lot of limitations, including really little memory. This means the gizmo cannot have a lot of sounds or patches at the same time. In order to make switching between different programs fast and friendly we developed a web-based firmware flasher that allows you to quickly try out different configurations without the need to leave your browser. Check out the firmware page!

We designed the gizmo to be built in a DIY/DIT electronics workshop setting. In the future, we will add instructions on how to build it yourself in this page.
